To talk about Saturn in astrology is a tough thing for many people. Saturn rules time and takes a while to show its riches, but when it does it can be an amazing payout. Many see Saturn as the planet that takes things away from them, takes them down, doesn’t allow them to have what they want and so much more negative connotations to this planet. Yes, it can be the teacher that walks into the classroom and makes the students behave, get back to work and meet their potential. I understand, that is tough for a lot of people, but what happens if Saturn was not there to push you to become the person you are meant to be, battle wounds and all. This is the thing that rules you, “bosses” you, the thing your fear, to overcome and then become.
Yes, Saturn is about pushing you to have perseverance, grit, organization, go slow and steady to build that sturdy foundation so when you get to where you are going the whole thing is not just built on a toothpick waiting to crack and fall over. Saturn is there to make sure it is done right, and if you take its path you will succeed. Maybe not the way you thought you would, but take a breath, look back and realize it was the way it was supposed to be.
The great thing about Saturn is when you step up to the plate, when you put in the work, she is there to put a hand out. In life this may be seen as a mentor, a teacher, a book that happens to fall into your lap at the exact moment you need it to be there. Saturn shows up if you do. There are rewards after the journey, you just have to wake up and take it.
So don’t fear Saturn, and don’t fear your Saturn line. Maybe it’s not the place you want to take a vacation, retire to or meet your great love. Though they could become your greatest teacher in life and push you to become the person you are meant to be, I am just hoping that this is in a healthy way for everyone involved. On the other hand, if you are looking for a place to work, build a business, take that step forward and put that idea into concrete action. This is the place to lean into. Saturn loves to take that Neptunian fog of an idea and make it into something 3D. I’m not saying it will be easy, what I am saying with Saturn by your side, grit and perseverance things become possible.
Capricorn and Aquarius are both ruled by Saturn, the greater ‘malefic’ and find its home in the 10th house. Which is known for their discipline, being responsible, structure in life and wanting to set limits. Unlike, fun and crazy expansive Jupiter, Saturn is definitely that stern teacher in the classroom making you get your work done, and checking if it is done, because the rewards can be sweet. Yes, Saturn is about growing up and becoming mature but now that I am older I feel like that is OK, yes 20 years ago this blog would be completely different. My fight against the great Saturn, yet, I still worked. I always had this internal concept that I needed to grow to get where I was going, even if I fought it, I was going there. I am glad I did all the work, and played just as hard, but I am glad Saturn was there making me get the work done so I had a foundation to fall back on when I started to wake up from the fight against the idea of growing up. Yes, Saturn does rule my chart in more ways than one. My lessons were not always easy, but on this side of them I see more wisdom in those struggles. I know they are not over, because I am still breathing, but I am now a little bit more wise to them, I repeat a little bit more, Saturn is a mighty planet after all.
Living on your Saturn lines, depending if in which part of your chart Saturn is, Saturn can stir up different stories in your life. Saturn on you AC, ascendent line could make you more stoic, perceived as being the natural leader when you walk in the door. Even if you have no idea what is going on, you just have that air about you that you do know and can lead everyone to where they need to go. I have definitely experienced this, I try to follow it up with “deer in the headlights look” but it only works half the time. People just don’t believe it, they still see the leader ready to take charge. If Saturn is on the descendant, love relationships may seem more like work, cold and monotonous. Where is the fun and laughter? Business relationships can thrive, along with contracts being successful because they are detailed as Saturn wants, building that great foundation. Yet, they can be tedious to put together. Saturn in your 10th house, is going to want to leave a legacy, through dedication and experience this will happen. The other thing to note about Saturn, is the effort you put in earlier in life may not show up until later. The strong foundation of Saturn is very important.
Also, as Saturn is seen as the planet that pushes you to grow up, what you do in your youth may come to haunt you or it may come to reward you. If you put the effort in, build your knowledge, relationships, or your inner self the rewards and support will show. If you choose to do nothing Saturn is not going to be the one who gives you the lottery ticket. Jupiter may do that, but Saturn may just take it away just as quickly and painfully. If you are not ready for something in life Saturn will be there to give you the lessons that you have not yet learned. At this point do you step up to the plate and do Saturn, take responsibility. I think we have all seen this movie. Or at least heard about the lottery winner who lost it all and is now in more debt than before and their lives are torn to shreds. It is an interesting dilemma, and a contradiction in life. One that most of us never have to live with, yet, all seem that we want to. I just know in my life, if I have someone around me win the lottery, I am just going to leave them to it.
Saturn in your life. Saturn has different lessons for all of us. Depending on the house, aspects to other planets and house placement all give it a different lesson for us in our life. Saturn takes 2.5 to 3 years to go through a house. Therefore, the people born around you have the same sign as you do, but do you notice not everyone around your age has the same Saturnian lesson as you. This is why it is important to know your own chart and get your own reading. The placement of Saturn in your own chart is going to hold so much more knowledge than just knowing the sign it is in. As you can see, house placement and aspects are actually more potent in your life than the sign Saturn is found in your chart. Even more than this Saturn transits in our life are even going to give us more profound information about our life and your development. Where are we before the transit, where are we after? What part of life are we being pushed to expand, learn, and transform more into who we are? We never forget these lessons so we take them onto the next phase of life, even just subconsciously, the lessons are there, building our foundations of who we are even if they are not tangible in our life yet.
Right now, 4/26/26, Saturn is in Aries for everyone. So, if you look at your chart and see where Aries is, that is the house that Saturn is currently stirring up for you. The rules, regulations, where are you going to be bold, take risks and build yourself stronger than you ever were before.
This is where it is so key to understand the house and the aspects. So you know how the planets are talking to each other, how rules might be broken and how that flavor is affecting your life. Is Saturn supporting you in conjunction or debilitating you? For now I am just going to give a brief idea of how Saturn shows up in each house.
House 1 – This person will seem like they are the authority, the responsible one in the room and in their life. Yet, they get a slower start in life. Stoic, serious, not mushy. They had to overcome the loss of their authority figure early in life and had to become their own authority in their life. Facing your fears of becoming a leader in life is part of the soul contract. This takes time to develop but as each lesson comes your will grow to be the leader.
House 2- This person feels a hardship around income, and the need to grow something that has lasting worth in the end. The pain around not having will build a strength to build value through discipline and hard work. Saturn in the second house does not allow frivolousness around money or food. This can develop fear around food.
House 3- This person has a fear around their own voice because this is literally their voice. They may feel the authority figure in their life diminished their voice and know they have a fear around using their voice, a speech impediment ect. Early education was not as free as they needed it to be. The karmic contract is to break out of this fear and to use your voice. Develop discipline around your own voice, to use it, do it your way.
House 4- This person has shame or limitation around something around your home. What lineage did you inherit from your home? Something around lack, limited, sadness around the home. Your contract is to feel safe around the home, to break out of the inherited lineage of home and to grow a strong foundation around home. To build your own joy in your home.
House 5- This person has a hearthship around joy in their life. Holding back the art, the beauty in life. The person that has great joy and is not able to use it, show it, become it. This is where you have to look at yourself and jump into the joy because JOY is for everyone! You do deserve it, you create joy in your life. Draw it, sing it, dance it, love it, just go for it!
House 6- This person can become extremely disciplined over their body, their health, small animals to the point it becomes too much, in search of perfection. They might feel that they are not worthy unless they take daily habits and job tasks very seriously. This can take over their life and their lesson is to break free and to develop themselves other parts of their life.
House 7- This person can find they are married to someone who becomes their authority figure rather than their partner. This can happen without you even noticing. They go out looking for love, loyalty and commitment, and then they get something else. The contract is for you to reverse this and become who you are meant to be in the relationship and not someone else’s idea.
House 8- This person is very deep, incredibly deep, deals with death, alienation around authority in life. Can feel they are not worthy of love. This contract is to develop a strong connection with someone that they can trust on a deep soul level because of how deeply they are wounded from past doings.
House 9 -This house holds a lot of themes. Religion, law, gurus, higher education. This can be a switch of religion, law and order played out in your life in some way, education later in life. Once you find who you are, different from how you were raised you become who you are supposed to be, later in life. It is about that transformation, the breaking free from the dogmatic principles of younger life.
House 10- This person is incredibly responsible around work, you have to earn this. Things are not handed to you. Dedication and perseverance is the name of the game, there are no easy hand outs. You just have to do the work and that is where the reward comes from. Build the foundation from day one so you can build the roof as well. The reward is to leave a legacy that you can not even imagine right now. Don’t limit yourself, find yourself and then build it, don’t compare yourself to your authority figure, become your own.
House 11- This person can feel that they can’t be unique by their authority figure. These people can feel like they don’t fit in, they aren’t conventional and they are trying to be. Being different and not fitting in is their way of being but this placement makes them feel depressed about it rather than embracing being the black sheep everywhere. So it can become extremely lonely but you need to embrace yourself, find others like you or people who embrace your uniqueness and just go with it. That is the lesson.
House 12– This could feel very isolated. Mental illness or not, fearing the vastness of the world. The need to manage chaos is important. The authority figure in life could have had mental illness, been institutionalized, alcoholism and this really imprinted on this person when they were younger. Authority could just not be around and a story was built around them. Great psychologist, hospice worker, and becomes an authority figure for others who need this support in their own life. They become of service to other healing, is their way to heal this Saturn.
Saturn’s lessons are not easy, wherever it is in the chart. We have lessons to learn and Saturn is there to make sure that we don’t skip out. It can be devastating, but we can get through it and then we see why we had to go through the lesson. As they say, the only way is through. Usually by the age of 36 these lessons really start going from lesson to blessing.
Knowing the placement and the aspects are key to supporting you through these lessons. Are you being supported by other planets or are they really putting you through the grinder, and knowing this you can then see things more clearly to be able to support yourself and be more patient with yourself and others. Doing these things can release some of the stress, anger and letting go of some of the pain helps get through the worst of these changes and lessons of life. Self-discovery is the healing power. Book a reading to explore together.
